Forced Entertainment return to Contact!

Tuesday 1 July

This November, Forced Entertainment will be making a hotly anticipated return to Contact. Forced Entertainment are a group of six unpredictable artists based in Sheffield who make performances and projects in installation, digital media and film. The Guardian newspaper called them “Britain’s most brilliant experimental theatre company”!

They are currently in the process of making their new performance piece Spectacular. This opens in May 2008 in Essen, Germany and will visit Contact in November during the UK leg of its European tour.

As ever, it’s hard to know what they might have in store for us. Their work varies a lot from project to project – sometimes brash and theatrical, other times minimal and text-based.  In everything they do they talk about contemporary experience, and create powerful encounters with their audiences.

Forced Entertainments last production at Contact was The World in Pictures. This mock-epic theatrical picture-book of the history of man snaked a shambolic and highly comical path from cave to shopping mall, with dodgy costumes, improvised scenery and over-enthused performances – a bold attempt to tell the Story of Mankind, and a sell-out show here.

Take this opportunity to book early here.
