Future Fires is an innovative programme designed to empower young artists by giving them the opportunity to design and deliver their own project with a community that they are part of or who they feel a special connection to.
In 2008, five young artists ( Samira Arhin-Acquah, Borhan Mohammedi, Kelly Morgan, Martin Stannage and Yusra Warsama) took part in the first Future Fires, delivering projects with a number of different communities including young people at risk, refugees, female asylum seekers, elderly people and young people using everything from spoken word, carnival, film and hip-hop to create work, share stories and learn new skills.
This year, supported by Paul Hamlyn Foundation, Contact is looking to recruit new artists for the second stage of Future Fires.
