Fink On Theatre Win Umbro Industries Prize

Tuesday 23 February

Fink On Theatre, the company production our upcoming show, Crying In The Chapel, have been awarded £3500 by Umbro Industries. The money will allow Fink On to stage workshops and offer free tickets to young audiences.

Crying In The Chapel is an inside account of the Strangeways prison riots, based on prison diaries from before and after the riots, and loads of other stuff, which helped us to paint a bigger picture,” explained Nick Clarke one of Fink On Theatre’s founders, “We performed two studio performances in 2000 to mark the tenth anniversary of the riots, but at the time we didn’t have the resources to do it justice. Now, we’ve been able to develop a lot of the ideas, we’ve been through the training and the script has been developed so it’s better now than ever been before.”

Crying In The Chapel appears at Contact April 26 to May 8.

Umbro Industries is an initiative by Umbro geared towards giving Manchester-based creatives the financial backing they need to make their ideas reality.
