Discovering New Avenues (D.N.A)
One of the projects we have undertaken as part of our work with young people who aren’t in education, employment or training was held in a viaduct in Clayton Park.
The viaduct is where young people in the area like to be because it keeps them dry in the bad weather and largely they are left undisturbed. The only problem is that it was often used for underage drinking and random vandalism!
A group of young people from the area have taken ownership of the viaduct and decorated it and liaised with the park warden to get some seating and lighting for the space.
They have also achieved a qualification during the process which is recognized by the QCA and can help them find employment and training and hopefully will get them into further education.
