Bro 9 was an incredible piece of new theatre, written by Manchester writer, Segun, which played to young audiences from the city to great acclaim in 2003.
Paranoia and the after effects of drug taking lead the main character, Scally, to have a close encounter with 10 foot tall Black aliens who give him a new afrocentric mind and a mission that pulls him into a web of dark intrigue, where his own personal demons are waiting.
The initial idea for Bro 9 had been developed during Segun’s At Home artist in residency at Contact in 2002. The play won awards at the Manchester Evening News Theatre Awards, and has since been developed in to a short film.
